Gozney Dome: Hands-on Pizza Oven Review for Remarkable Pizza

Gozney Done is amazing! Home cooks, professional chefs, and pizza enthusiasts all over the world have been buzzing about Gozney’s newest product since it was first introduced to the market. After spending three years in the development stage, the Gozney Dome was finally revealed.

Gozney Dome

In 2016, Gozney made waves with the Gozney Roccbox, an innovative portable pizza oven that was reportedly the world’s first home oven to reach 932 F (500 C). It was only a matter of time until Gozney would take things to the next level with an even more impressive appliance. If there is one thing everyone can agree on, from amateur cooks to professional chefs, it’s that the Gozney Dome is the latest must-have outdoor pizza oven.

The Dome seems to be Gozney's response to the Ooni Pro Multi-Fuel Oven, and we had been excited for the Dome for quite a while. But now we finally got to test it, and here is what we have to say.

How to Buy Your Own Gozney Dome

First things first, where to buy the Gozney Dome?

There will be two versions of the Gozney Dome available for purchase: the Wood version for $1299 or Dual Wood (gas) for $1499. Gozney Dome vs Ooni Pro

If you are looking for a home pizza oven, there are two superior options: the Gozney Dome and the Ooni Pro. With impressive features, ample cooking versatility, and sleek designs, both ovens take outdoor cooking to the next level.

Deciding whether to buy the Gozney Dome or the Ooni Pro will likely come down to the few differences between them; most notably, the price. The Gozney Dome costs $1299 and the Ooni Pro costs $599. If price isn’t a factor, consider that while both are multi-fuel ovens, only the Ooni Pro can be used with charcoal.

Both ovens reach a max temperature of 950 degrees and can be used to cook a variety of foods. The Ooni Pro reaches max temperature in just 20 minutes, while it takes the Gozney Dome nearly an hour. But only the Gozney Dome can be used in all weather conditions, including rain and snow.

Regardless of which oven you decide to buy, you’re guaranteed to be more than satisfied with your purchase.

What Makes the Gozney Dome Unique?

“The Dome is a wood-fired outdoor oven. It’s so much more than a pizza oven. There’s nothing like it available on the market today.” - Tom Gozney.

The Gozney Dome was designed to be easy to use. Gozney promises its latest product offers the most cooking versatility and performance of any outdoor oven or BBQ on the market. When it comes to the Gozney Dome, the possibilities are endless. You can roast, steam, smoke, or bake. You can cook with wood or gas. You can cook impressively fast or low and slow. With this outdoor oven, you’ll feel like you have your very own restaurant right in your backyard.

You can cook authentic Neapolitan Pizza at 950°F or close the Rope Sealed Door and use the Dome to smoke or slow roast meat. With the Integrated Steam Injector, you can bake sourdough bread. But that’s not all. With the accessory port and long list of accessories, you can easily tackle just about any recipe you desire.

Cooking with the Gozney Dome

Just as promised, the Gozney Dome is impressively easy to use. The mouth of the oven is wide enough to make it easy to put food in the oven and take it out, including large pizzas and thick cuts of meat.

The Dome is likely to become your go-to gadget for baking bread, given how easy it is to maneuver the dough into the oven and remove the baked bread after it’s done. Plus, the revolutionary technology of the oven ensures that while the outside of your bread and pizza crust is crisp, the inside stays soft, light, and airy. When making pizza, your crust gets the perfect amount of crispiness, your toppings melt into the gooey perfection you expect from restaurant-quality pies.

The Dual Fuel model features a built-in gas burner, making it easy to switch between fuel types. The fire basket and specially designed accessories make building a fire easy. Keeping the fire going is also satisfyingly simple, as is the clean-up. The ash removal tray makes clean-up a breeze.

Our Thoughts

You guessed it, we absolutely love the Dome. We don't know what's left to improve on this oven. Apart from its size, it's absolutely perfect. And while it's slightly pricier than its competition, for the Pizza enthusiast this is an investment well worth every penny.

2 months later

We were very excited when we got this oven, so it's time to take a step back and re-evaluate how this oven actually performs. The Dome is huge and it's heavy. Due to its size, it takes a while to heat up. The price is high but justified.

But in the meantime, we got the chance to try out Ooni's new flagship, the Karu 16. The excitement from the Dome quickly faded as soon as we got the Karu 16 shipped to us.

Yes, the Dome is a 5-star oven, but the Karu 16 is cheaper, smaller, and it's much faster, it heats up in just 15 minutes. Besides, the Karu 16 is portable and comes with a beautiful glass door. Cooking your pizzas with the door closed results in much more even results.

Review: 5/5
